We started our day having breakfast with G&G....it was Grandpa's birthday...if only we can look and be as healthy as they are. It was so great spending time with them and seeing where they live...now we are on the road and heading to Tuscon and then final destination...Bisbee, AZ...thanks to a suggestion from our friend Justin Brown.
Driving from Yuma we saw so many signs of the rains that had been falling in the south west...the residue of the Flagstaff snow. Chantannell was tired and as I drove and listened to some music she rested up until we were close to Tuscon. She had a certificate to use for a free pair of sunglasses so we found a Sunglass Hut. While looking there they told us of the Ilori store upstairs...one of 14 in America...sexy little boutiques for eye wear fashion! Chantannell sampled many pairs including the Tiffany pair with a real diamond and other bling for a cool $1,500.00. WOW! We had fun trying on shades and she finally decided on the Gadabouts...my name for them. White rimmed...very adorable and fun...I smile every time she puts them on. Now those of you who know me know I do not love to shop,,,barely tolerate it but will hang in there while others shop...I will say this excursion into shopping was not bad. This was one of the nicest malls I have been to...it was more like a plaza. With a center square, great landscaping, misters for the really hot days. We found a great jewelry store that made most of there own jewelry. They had some grat desighnes and chantannell treated herself to a very clever ring. I have learned in life if you see something you like and it draws you in...go ahead treat yourself...you deserve it! After the mall we searched for 4th Avenue per Lorin's suggestion. We were looking for the 'Surly Wench' and the 'Buffet Bar'. We found the Surly but she was closed for business til 5pm. We did not locate the Buffet but instead went into a great recycle store...where everything in the store was made out of recycled items...great ideas and very fun. South of the Border cafe for lunch, photos and a great book store where we picked up, Skppyjon Jones and the Really Big Bones! The cover and the name sold it for us. Went past the Rialto...had just missed Cowboy Mouth..one of my all time favorite bands from New Orleans. The Congress Hotel which definately deserves more looking into. Tuscon we will be back! We really liked it in Tuscon! Getting dusky and on our way to Bisbee.
Snowstorm...blizzard on the pass going into Bisbee...what the? Driving in flipflops and driving 30 in a white out...loving life! It took a little longer than expected to get there and we did not take the time to stop in Tombstone. That will have to be another trip. Marg directed us (almost) to our night's resting spot. We ended up having to call them for the final 3 blocks. Good old Marg...sometimes she works like a dream and other times not so good. (Marg is the name of our GPS)
I booked a room at 'The Gardens and Mile High Ranch'. Such a great little place to stay. We really liked our set up. A kitchen, living room, bedroom...spacious and fab and the have a very easy going dog policy. Tara, Maggie and Anna are the three sisters that run it and they are wonderful. There are only 7 rooms that they manage here. The grounds and gardens are so relaxing. As we unloaded the car and got settled in for the night the snow kept on falling and building up. Sweet Dreams for tired travelers and happy puppies...soft beds over the Camry seats...YES!!!
(we are having a problem uploading photos...will keep trying)
